Realising Low-Energy Building: Communication and Coordination

The first QualiBuild Breakfast Briefing was held on 30 June, hosted by Ecological Building Systems in Athboy, Co Meath.

Builders and specifiers from around the area met for a networking breakfast, before walking over to Ecological Building Systems training centre.

Niall Crosson, Senior Technical Engineer with Ecological Building Systems, led a discussion focused on the need to integrate building processes and trades to deliver low energy building. A fractured approach to building leads to increased costs and increased energy bills. Planning a coordination of processes on site can make dramatic improvements to building performance while at the same time reduce building costs.

Following this was a demonstration of an airtightness quality control test on a model building at Ecological Building Systems state of the art training centre.
