Getting Practical about Quality – Thermal Bridging
16 Dec 2015
As part of the developing awareness in energy efficiency and constructing Quality Low Energy Buildings, QualiBuild have arranged for a number of sessions to be held around Dublin. These are aimed at those who are unable to attend the FES course or are interested to see what the FES courses are all about. Remember these sessions are FREE.This series looks at practical examples of how to achieve quality on site and comply with the new building control regulations BC(A) R and deliver near zero energy buildings. It is designed for both professionals and on site construction workers to come together for peer to peer learning. The briefings will encourage discussion and sharing of best practice approaches to Quality to achieve low-energy buildings including insulation, air-tightness, ventilation, heating systems and detailing.
Session Two – Thermal Bridging
Date: January 20, 2016 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Where: The Croke Park Hotel, Jones’ Rd, Dublin
For thermal insulation to be effective, it needs to be continuous. Poor detailing will give rise to heat loss and thermal bridging, and in turn create problems with condensation and mould growth. This session will discuss quality processes to achieve Part L Acceptable details on site and also best practice zero thermal bridge detailing to the nZEB/Passive house standards.
